How to Volunteer:

 

We have a need for volunteers to gather needed items, to contact businesses to get in-kind donations, (such as we did for the tiller we donated to Moenkopi), to help sort items and stack items in the storage garages we have, to load up trailers etc.

 

We need some volunteers to go down to the reservation with us to unload and distriubute the items. This has been a popular activity for some families especially at Christmas time. (See the write-up on some of these volunteers under the Recent volunteers section.). Remember however that the Hopi Reservation is more than 500 miles from Salt Lake City and the motel rooms are scarce and are about 100 per night, but if you want to go with us, give Mike or Ray a call or email us. We have assigned volunteer coordinators in order to be better organized and to get usable items to the people who need them.

We have had several successes with Eagle Projects. Its a bit far away, but you'll have lots of volunteer hours to record. Call us if you're interested.

 

Establishment of Hopi High School Video Production Program
We are working with the Hopi High School to establish a video production program. The tribe needs such a program to teach their young tribal members how to document the various ceremonies which are quickly being lost. The young people need to learn about photography & videography, lighting, audio for field recording as well as audio for studio recording, script writing, storyboarding, editing, graphic arts, DVD authoring, as well as the business of distribution of documentary materials.

We need individuals or corporations to donate:

  1. Four or Five digital cameras, (preferably HD). Approximate cost: 3 to 5 thousand each
  2. Two or three editing system, (AVID, Final Cut, or Adobe Premier) Approximate cost: 3 to 4 thousand each
  3. Two or three location lighting kits. (Lowell type kits) Approximate cost 1 thousand each
  4. Two or three graphics systems, (Adobe Creative Suite 3, 3DStudio Max) Approximate cost 2 thousand each
  5. Four or five tripods with fluid heads, (Sachler, Bogan, Cartoni etc) Approximate cost 2 thousand each
  6. Field audio equiment; i.e. wireless microphones, field mixers, shotgun microphones, boom poles & windscreens, mic cables, head phones
  7. Studio audion equipment; i.e. mixing board, sudio mics, mic stands, cables, head phones
