The Hopi Christmas Outreach for 2008 was the best yet

On December 4th through the 11th, the HopiOutreach gang once again delivered much needed supplies to the Hopi people on all three mesas.  This year, however, we went to the Acoma Tribe near Albuquerque, NM, and spent a wonderful afternoon with the Senior Citizen's Center there, handing out quilts, afghans, gloves, hats, and even bicycles to the Seniors of the Acoma Community.  After that we went to the Zuni Tribe and unloaded an entire trailer full of needed items for the elderly, children, and needy of that community.

At the Hopi Rez, this year, we had a fenced-in facility donated by the Kiva Chief, Leo, where we unloaded a full Semi Trailer full of items along with 7 tag-a-long trailers.  From there we redistibuted the items and took them to the various communities.  We went to Hotevilla and Bacavi this year, as well as Old Oribi on Third Mesa.

A new twist this year was the delivery of 7 sheep brought down by a

family from Gunnison, Utah.  We had plenty of offers to take those

sheep off our hands, but we distributed them to needy families who

had the facilities to keep them.

Again this year barrels were a popular itemAgain this year, barrels were a big item and we handed out more than 100 of them.
