Many of the villages reported a strange phenomenon last fall concerning corn seeds that were donated by Dale Tingey and the American Indian Services. Mik and Alice Funk for instance, threw some seeds out to the side of their mobile home and then forgot about them. They didn't water them or take care of them in any way. Almost miraculously, they grew taller and stronger than the corn they had planted in their regular garden. This would not be so remarkable except for the fact that similar stories were popping up all over the Mesas. Hernal Dallas from Moenkopi reported back to Mike that many of the people in his village were amazed at how well they grew. That's Mike all over - just planting seeds!
